Talking about food means talking about our society, our history, our heritage. It’s talking about humanity.

From Obelix's wild boars to Popeye's spinach, from Gaston Lagaffe's cod with strawberries and Chantilly cream to Naruto's ramen, or even from the Smurfs' sarsaparilla to Winnie the Pooh's pot of honey, examples of feasts and there is no shortage of more or less refined dishes in the comic strip!

By exploring the links between gastronomy and creation through the original plates of around a hundred authors, the exhibition offers a sensitive journey during which food gradually becomes a witness and revealer of changes in society. , even the excesses of an era.

It is no coincidence that food has been present in comics since its creation. It was first a characteristic element of a hero, of a group of individuals, then of an era, of its issues, of its joyful or worrying behavior.
And since it is about telling the story of life, it is quite natural that comics have welcomed cooking and its practice as a companion to intimate, introspective and even extraordinary stories! Then the comic strip evolved to make food one of its objects of study and reporting, to describe know-how and question the future of our food.
It was therefore time to take an interest in the links that unite comics and food, to show that once again, the ninth art tells, accompanies and deciphers the major subjects and issues of our society. It is this sensitive journey that the exhibition offers you through the works of around a hundred authors from around the world.
So look, listen, touch, smell and, with a little luck, the taste will come, just like you would bite!
This exhibition, imagined by curators Marine Bidaud and Mathieu Charrier, offers a journey through the boards of around a hundred French and international authors with some exceptional original drawings never presented to the public.

With family...
Young audiences will be delighted to find their favorite contemporary heroes and heroines like the cooks Magda and Yasmina or Luffy and his friends (including the cook Sanji!). Young and old alike will dive into the canteen of La Cantoche's dissipated schoolchildren and the timeless recipes of Mamette, without forgetting the presence of their beloved gourmet characters like Obélix, Popeye, the Smurfs, the Daltons etc... Children will also have the joy of Meet Chipo, a hilarious sausage character. The course will surprise them by engaging their senses: they will have to recognize smells, textures and many other surprises.

In co-production with the cultural center of the International City of Gastronomy and Wine of Dijon.
