Every Thursday from 12:15 p.m. to 13 p.m., a focus is offered on a theme linked to current events at the museum or the collections; a pleasant way to enjoy your lunch break. Come meet Taina Tervonen this week.

A fan of narrative non-fiction, defining herself as a “storyteller of true stories”, Taina Tervonen
passionate about archives and traces.

A Franco-Finnish journalist, writer and translator, she received the Louise Weiss Prize for European Journalism and the True Story Award for all of her work.

In The Gravediggers, she meets the point of view of three women working on the mass graves of the Balkans, after the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In equally fine and documented writing, she returns in 2022 with Les Otages, a compelling investigation into an episode from the colonial past: the theft by Colonel Archinard of a treasure that belonged to the warlord Ahmadou Tall in the former Sudan French. At a time of the restitution of colonial spoils plundered in Africa, Taina Tervonen – who spent the first fifteen years of her life in Senegal – makes the silent witnesses of a long-hidden history speak.
